Your Basic Skincare Routine: Cleanse

Okay Ladies! Now let's get in formation. It is time to develop a routine to really see and sustain healthy clear skin. Once you do it a few imes it will become a quick and easy and eventually second nature. Just get intot he habit of doing what you need to do to achieve the results that you are looking for.

Cleansing Tips:

  1. To maximize the benfits of your cleansers, always apply with damp hands, or to warm moist skin. If you like, you can even take a hot shower or a steam bath to open your pores, prior to cleansing. This will prime your skin and allow your cleanser to penetrate deeper into your skin.

  2. Use small circular motions to gently massage your cleansers into your skin. Gently pat away excess moisture, or eve better, air dry. But whatever you do NEVER wipe. Over time wiping stretches our delicate skin, which leads to sagging and wrinkles.

Now let's Get Into It

For best results, cleanse your skin at least twice a day. First thing in the morning and last thing in the evening.

In the Morning

While you sleep, your pores open up and expel toxins and sebum. About 10 minutes after you're up and moving around, your pores will close up and shut down. If you don't cleanse your skin adequately and quickly enough, your pores will reabsorb those toxins when they shut down which traps and clogs them with dirty oil.

At Night

Your skin is a living, breathing organ. It is like a sponge and full of your environment. Not tring to freak you out here, but your skin will absorb the smog, smoke, sweat, grease, sneezes, kisses, germs and bacteria you expose it to. The very LAST thing that you want to do is go to sleep with a nasty germy cesspool on your face.

Let me repeat myself- Your pores will relax overnight. If your face is covered with toxic soup, your pores will drink it up and deliver it to the deepest layers of your skin, while you sleep! Then your pores will be sick in the morning. They will try to throw up those toxins by creating- you guessed it- acne. Keep your pores healthy by removing the day's environment from the surface of your skin and adding healthy night serums or moisturizing skin coctails, before bedtime.

A Note about Natural Facial Cleansers

Natural cleansers do not typically 'foam up' or include foaming agents. Foaming is usually associated with retail products that contain harsh and unnecessary chemicals. While most home-made facial cleansers don't foam up like retail cleansers, they al do not dry and damage the skin. Foaming agents are the #1 cause of drying, strippping and upsetting the pH balance of your hair and skin. Try to avoid these agents as much as possible! Educate yourself by reading the ingredient labels on the back of your product containers.
